Cliché as it may sound but for every expat here in UAE, having a conducive abode that gives a certain feeling of being at home is considered a luxury since accommodation is a primary commodity in this country.
I have been into various types of accommodation, from sharing a room with friends and living in a rented room in a villa with other people, I have tried it all. I must admit that it has been a struggle. Until finally after striving hard i have gotten what i have been wanting .... my first studio flat in this building.
I believe that the only consolation I can give to myself for being away from my family is to have a comfortable space after a long day of work.
One of the perks I am enjoying is having to design my own room with my own theme and color. My room right now transports me to my room back home where I practicaly grew up which gives me serenity amidst being homesick and strength to continously hold on while earning a decent living here in UAE.

I may be away from home but the feeling of being at home here in my own space has given me a rewarding feeling and a sense of belonginess.
